Description
A Rich, Smoky Sauce.
Save the bacon drippings from the breakfast skillet to make this creamy gravy for supper.
Ingredients
- 12 oz North Country Smokehouse Applewood Smoked Uncured Bacon (original or sugar free)
- 1/4 C flour
- 2 TBS Butter
- 3 C Whole Milk
- ¼ tsp onion powder (optional)
- Dash of salt
- Dash of pepper
Cooking Instructions
- In a large pan, cook the bacon over medium heat until browned and crisp. Remove from the pan and set aside to cool. Leave the drippings in the pan and add butter.
- Still over medium heat, sprinkle flour over the bacon drippings and stir to make a smooth paste. Cook from 30 secs – 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add the milk and whisk until the mixture is smooth. Bring to a simmer and cook for 1-2 minutes until the gravy has thickened. If too thick, add a splash more milk until the desired consistency is achieved.
- Season with optional onion powder.
- Season generously with salt and pepper to taste.
- Crumble the cooked bacon into the gravy and stir to incorporate.
